Beat the Frog, Australian made game from
Learning Can Be Fun.
Based on 104 words from the
following rhyming families - ap, at, ell, en, ing, ip, ock, og, op, ug.
Ages: 4 and up
No. of players: 3
Contents: 4 reinforced vinyl mats,
laminated cards.
To Play: Three children play as a
team to see if they can complete one of their boards before the 12 puzzle
pieces of the frog picture have been placed on the frog's mat.
Each player selects a mat
containing 12 pictures with words from the rhyming families: the frog mat is
placed near the players. The cards are shuffled and placed face down, turns
are taken to turn the top card over. If the card contains a word that rhymes
with any picture on the players board he /she can put it down on their mat.
If it doesn't match any sounds on their board this card can't be used and is
put aside. If the card is an "Frog Card" it must be placed in the correct
position on the frog mat.
